Aaron Smith was presented with a Reno Citizens Institute graduation certificate on November 19, 2008 at a Reno City Council meeting.  Reno Citizens Institute is a hands-on approach to learning about the functions of local government.  The program provided Aaron with a first-hand look at city government through class sessions held at various city facilities.  During these sessions, Aaron learned how public officials make decisions, how funds are allocated and how departments work together to make our city great.  Aaron also had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss how Reno city government functions.  The class schedule includes sessions with the City Manager’s Office, Human Resources, Finance, Communications and Technology, Parks, Recreation and Community Services; the Reno Fire Department, City Attorney’s Office, Municipal Court, Reno Police Department, Public Works, Community Development, The Reno Redevelopment Agency and Truckee Meadows Water Authority.

Fred Miller, SIOR, with Fennell & Associates, a Reno, Nevada based Commercial Real Estate firm, has completed the sale of 1.8 acres of vacant land located in North Reno just off North Hills Boulevard.

Ron Boles, CCIM, with Fennell & Associates, commercial real estate solutions, has represented Clarkson Plaza, LLC in the sale of 3004 Kietzke Lane, a 25,000 square foot shopping center anchored by Big-O Tires.  The purchase price of $3,975,000 was obtained despite the last minute pull out of the buyer’s lender.  Seller financing was the key to making this transaction work in today’s market.

Ron Boles of Fennell & Associates, commercial real estate solutions in Reno, Nevada has represented Baring Village LLC in the purchase of 720 Baring Village, a 16,000 square foot shopping center for $2,650,000.  The transaction structured by Ron included a 1031 trade of a 50% interest in an office building with a lease back as a down payment.  The financing by Bank of America included tenant improvements for vacant space in the center that the new owner will be using.

Tom Young of Fennell & Associates, commercial real estate solutions based in Reno, Nevada, has successfully represented his seller in the sale of three parcels totaling $1,700,000 for the Redevelopment Area of the City of Sparks.

Despite the trouble in the finance industry the Coral Academy of Science was able to secure bond financing neccessary to complete the purchase of their building located at 1350 E. 9th Street, Reno, Nevada.
